ShutUpDeadEntities

The Breeze introduces a new sound processing system where sounds update dynamically with the entity's movement and stop entirely when the entity is removed.

Inspired by this, this mod aims to bring similar sound handling to other mobs. For now, it focuses on two key cases: the Enderman and the Creeper.

Why these two mobs?

The Enderman's angry (stare) sound and the Creeper's hissing (primed) sound are long enough to often outlast their source. For instance, you might kill an Enderman or Creeper but still hear their sound, creating a disconnection between gameplay and audio.

How does the fix work?

When a mob dies, their ongoing sounds are smoothly stopped by fading out both pitch and volume. This creates a more immersive experience.

Bonus Fix: Nether Portal

The mod also addresses a specific issue with the Nether portal's teleportation sound. When you step into the portal, the distinct sound that plays as teleportation begins will now smoothly fade out if you leave the portal before the process completes. This makes the audio behavior feel more responsive and immersive.

Client/Server Compatibility

  • Client Only: Works for the Enderman and Nether portal.
  • Client & Server (or Singleplayer): Also applies to the Creeper.

What’s next?

More fixes for similar sound-related issues are planned for future updates, ensuring an even more immersive and polished audio experience.
